STOP THE COMPARING: It Will Kill Your Calling!

One of the biggest obstacles to peace is comparison. We look at where others are serving God — what kind of ministry they have, what city they live in, how visible their work is — and we start questioning our own assignment.

But when Peter did the same thing, Jesus corrected him with a piercing question:

“If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” (John 21:22)

Ouch. That’s as direct as it gets.
In other words: “Peter, it’s none of your business what I’m doing with John. Just follow Me.”

The same is true for you and me.

  • It’s not your business where God sends someone else.

  • It’s not your business what ministry they lead.

  • It’s not your business what blessings or trials they face.

Your business is to follow Jesus — wherever, whenever, and however He leads.

We lose our peace the moment we start comparing assignments. God is not asking for your input on where you want to serve. He’s already chosen the place where your light is needed most.

When Hudson Taylor said,

“It does not matter where He places me,” he was living out the truth that joy is found not in location, but in obedience.

So stop worrying about someone else’s calling. Stop comparing. Stop questioning.
Instead, focus all your heart on one thing: faithfully following Jesus on the mission He’s given you.

That’s where contentment lives.

That’s where worry dies.
